Your own Remembrance path walk

The Remembrance path project is about walking: walking to remember, to honour and to share. To collaborate we would like you to take part in this simple walking task.

• Give yourself some space to think a little about the idea of loss and remembrance and see who or what comes into your mind.

• Choose a simple circular walk: a route where aspects of the landscape are nurturing is advisable.

• Choose five stones to take with you on this walk.

• Walk the circular path on your own or with a friend; walk with a real sense of opening the senses to what’s around you.

• As you walk place the stones, which may act as a marker for a particular thought, memory or image that arises; or it might just feel like the right place for the stone to be.

• On completion of the walk spend ten minutes making marks with a pen, writing or drawing. Allow words, thoughts, images to flow and be expressed. Recapture moments and thoughts, for example, the places you left the stones, textures, images or sounds.

• Complete the task: perhaps it’s as simple as closing your note book and putting the kettle on or maybe blowing out a candle! But find your own way of finishing.

• It would be really good if you could let us know if you have completed this task. Also, if you wish to share any words, drawings, scribbling or artwork of any form, they could be part of the Remembrance Path Exhibition and performative walk taking place in Shrewsbury (UK) in the autumn.
