The Remembrance Path Labyrinth

The Quarry Park, Shrewsbury - July 4/5th 2009

Help create and walk through a labyrinth of books symbolising the ongoing journey in our own lives and the creative journey of humankind.

A labyrinth is a spiral journey, travelling inwards to let go and then moving outwards to experience the new. It is a symbol and a journey that has very much been adopted by people walking the bereavement path as a tool for nurture and change. The labyrinth will be a tool for personal contemplation and ritual. It will also act as a reminder of the emotional and physical journeys that Darwin took in his own life.

From Now to July 4th
Please help us collect enough books to make the labyrinth. Please bring old (and loved) books you would like to donate, to our Remembrance Path Shop at The Darwin Shopping Centre, 2nd Floor in Shrewsbury. We are open from 12am – 2pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

There will be a book collection box provided if we are closed.

Saturday 4th July 10am – 5pm
Help environmental artists Wren Miller and Ray Jacobs create the labyrinth, using old books in the Quarry. Please bring a book you are happy to give away, to add to the labyrinth.

Sunday 5th July 10am – 5pm
Create a token of remembrance to place on your journey. Walk through the labyrinth at your own pace leaving your token somewhere within.

Sunday 5th July 6pm – 8pm
Help us with the symbolic closing of the labyrinth, placing the tokens and messages within a special book, ready for the next stage of their journey on the Remembrance Path Project.
